4th of July Activities to do with your grandparents and older parents
Traditionally, the 4th of July parade is a long-awaited day for gathering with friends and loved ones who gather to enjoy delicious food, the fireworks show, fun outdoor activities, and a great time to celebrate American Independence. But this year, due to COVID-19 and social estrangement, July 4 will probably not look like it did in previous years.
But that is no reason to cancel your celebration; there are still many fun activities for the 4th of July that you can do and again safely practice social distancing.
We should take advantage of these moments to do some activities with the grandparents that your children will most likely remember for the rest of their lives. It can often be challenging to find something fun to do, especially these days, when everyone feels tired of confinement.
To enjoy this day, relay fun family games are a great way to get the whole family involved. With grandparents making noise and giving humorous rewards, games are sure to bring fun for everyone. Listed below are a few with an Independence Day twist, but any game can suit this day with a little brainstorming. Let's see:
1. Pass the flag:
Each team member must run a set distance holding an American flag, then pass the flag to the next team member. The first team to finish is the winner
2. Red, white, and blue balloon:
Each team member must walk a set distance with a patriotic balloon between their knees. The first team to finish is the winner.
3. Apple under the chin:
Each team member must run a set distance without dropping her apple and then pass the apple to the next person. The first team to finish wins.
Now a short break, we will continue with the games, but at home.
4. Interview each other! Taking notes or recording with your Smartphone.
This will be like giving your kids something to look back on by interviewing grandma or grandpa! Who knows, you can discover something new Besides, the grandfather can tell his experiences during all the great 4th of July he has been through. He can speak many anecdotes that you did not even know.
5. Prepare a movie night in the backyard or the living room if you prefer.
Backyard barbecues with hot dogs aren’t the only way to celebrate the 4th of July on the patio. Level up your standard movie night by organizing a special screening for this day. This plan will be better than watch fireworks displays.
Prepare some cozy seats, in your patio, and then choose a perfect movie for Independence Day. Don't forget the popcorn!
Are you looking for something more fun for the whole family?
- You can host a game night with some of the best board games, and if you want to make it themed, try some funny patriotic games (like a fourth of July bingo or some American-themed trivia). Also, who doesn’t? Do you like an excellent card game? Card games like UNO, Old Maid, or Go Fish are great for any age! Of course, to play all without mischief
Do we have musicians in the family?
Then let's improvise a party with live music included!!
It is not a party if there is no good music, so put on some songs and karaoke, so everyone will sing their favorite patriotic songs or even on the speakers. Dancing "Fiesta in the United States" is a must!
And so, in this way, enjoying games with the family, sharing some delicious dishes, we will celebrate Independence Day in a different but unforgettable way. Best of all, taking care of a health problem for our family, we stay at home!
